Trip across this world as you pass by… – USA and Geneva

Okay let’s get this started.

Weeks 1 and 2 were a somewhat sedate start for my trip. I often subscribe to the idea that when you’re taking leave you should take at least 3 weeks. 1 week to wind down from work, 1 week to enjoy it, 1 week to work up to your return.

Over the span of a 9 week trip then I think you could say I took about 2 weeks at the start to wind down from a long holidayless period of work and get into the travel mindset.

I say a sedate start but don’t take that as a negative. Weeks 1 and 2 had me visting San Francisco/Oakland, New York City and Geneva and staying with the friends I have strategically been placing there over the past decade or so for just such an occasion. And I did a LOT of walking in this time and went to a LOT of museums.

Between my camera and my phone I took well over 10,000 photos and a whole bunch of video on this trip  (not sure how that compares but for me that’s a lot!). I think I’ll probably make some different posts that group different types of images together as I’m already discovering its hard to pick just a handful of images that overall represent each week of my journey.

CAMERAS:

  • Panasonic Lumix G85
    • 12-60mm f3.5-5.6 ASPH Power OIS Lens
    • 25mm f1.7 ASPH Lens
    • 7-14mm f4.0 ASPH Lens
  • Samsung Galaxy S9+

San Francisco/Oakland

New York City

It’s possible that I tried numerous times to replicate the famous shot from Manhattan… and failed. I think I needed a bench, two people and a telephoto lens. Next time!
